People who say that our city is boring are just plain wrong. There is so much to do in San Antonio! Now that its summertime family and friends will be looking to get out of the house and enjoy all that our city has to offer. However, heading out to Six Flags or Sea World every day probably isn’t very economical. Luckily, San Antonio has several options for fun that are absolutely free! We’ve put together a short list of some of our favorite free activities here in SA.
This park has become one of the city’s hottest spots for staying cool. Located right in the middle of Downtown’s Hemisfair Park, Yanaguana Gardens is a little oasis. Complete with splash pad, playground, sand box and frequently a paletero nearby this park is sure to please the masses. It’s absolutely free to enter the park and enjoy its festivities too! The only thing you may need to worry about is finding parking.

District 4’s Rey Saldana has helped to turn this old landfill into one of the South Side’s favorite places to be! This park has a huge play structure and water works that keep everyone cool. There’s also several picnic tables and a couple of covered areas so you can make a day out of it! Bring your snacks and drinks and stay until they close. You won’t need to worry about parking here as there is more than enough room!

San Antonio’s Historical Missions are a UNESCO World Heritage site. People come from all over the world to visit our beloved Missions but when was the last time you visited? There is so much to learn from our history, our Missions give us a window into our past and are architecturally stunning. The Mission’s Hike & Bike trails lead you to all of San Antonio’s Missions with a breezy ride down the beautiful SA River. Get outside and learn something new!
From the Witte to the Doseum and the Briscoe to the McNay, San Antonio has some amazing museums for our enjoyment and if you go at the right times -it’s free! Play Tourist At The Riverwalk
You know it, we know it, everyone knows it -the Riverwalk is just for tourists. But is it? Why should the city’s number one attraction be kept all to the tourists? We can all enjoy the wonderful views of the San Antonio River! Take the family into town and play tourist for the day -you might learn something new about your city and have fun doing it!
